Barbara Zuehlke works in many mediums from serigraph to oil, focusing primarily on watercolor. She is proficient in using wet pigment on wet paper (wet on wet) to give a softness and flow that is exciting when combined with the sharp, clean edge of working on dry paper. She creates beauty for your enjoyment; believing that good drawing is the basis for good painting and that the observer needs to feel the medium… “the flow and transparency of watercolor or the rich gooeyness of oil.”

The Artist is a native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she earneda Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in graphics and painting. Her commercial experience began with the J.L. Hudson Co. in Detroit, Michigan designing large scale animated and still display promotions; followed by display coordination management for John Wannamakers in Philadelphia. She has worked free-lance in wrapping paper and logo design. Barbara is a partner at The Artists Gallery in Chestertown, teaches intermediate watercolor at Dorchester Center for the Arts; and is an active member and past President of Working Artists Forum.  Barbara has had a one person show at The Dorchester Art Center and shown her paintings at the Academy of the Arts in Easton, the Oxford Art Show, The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Creatrics Gallery, and other Maryland Eastern Shore arts shows. She presently operates her art studio and a quality frame shop in her Eastern Shore home.
